IOM Musafirkhana

Musafirkhana:

In Islamic culture, the musafirkhana is a proud tradition symbolizing hospitality and humanitarian values. During his caliphate, Caliph Hazrat Umar (RA) built a special lodging called "Darud Dakik" for travelers, where guests were provided food and accommodation free of charge. He also established musafirkhanas along the roads between Makkah and Madinah. This tradition persists in some parts of the Indian subcontinent even today, where travelers can seek shelter for up to three days free of cost.

IOM's Musafirkhana:

Many brothers come to Dhaka from various districts for important work, but face difficulties due to lack of close relatives or accommodation. To meet this need, IOM has launched a free musafirkhana (for a maximum of 3 days) in Shewrapara, Dhaka.

Conditions:
1. Students of the Alim course:
- Must be a current or graduated student of IOM.
- If dropped out, must have completed at least the first semester.

2. Students of other single courses:
- Must have completed the course (dropouts are not eligible).

3. For sisters:
- The musafirkhana is only for brothers.
- Sisters will receive this facility via Madhushiti Madrasah.
- Husbands or fathers of sisters who are regular or graduated students of the Alim course may also stay here.

Location and Facilities:
- Location: Shewrapara, Dhaka (from where one can travel to any place from Uttara to Motijheel via metro rail in only 15 to 20 minutes).
- A shared room (not a hotel), located in the Maktab building.

Rules:
1. Must arrive during office hours. Since the room key must be collected from the office (between 10 AM and 5 PM).

3. Must inform in advance of departure.
4. Must deposit a valid NID (smart card) or any certificate during stay (photocopies not accepted).
5. Must manage one's own meals.
6. Must have a sunnah beard and be smoke-free.
7. Staying beyond 3 days requires a payment of 300 taka per day.

IOM's initiative is an effort to revive the tradition of the Muslim Ummah in a modern context. Let us all participate in this noble endeavor.
