Alhamdulillah was salamu ala Rasulillah. Wa ala alihi wa ashabihi wa man wa laah. The first revelation that was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in the cave of Hira was: Read in the name of your Lord who created. He created man from a clot of blood. Indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful. He taught by the pen. He taught man that which he did not know (Surah: Al-Alaq, verses no.: 1-5). Just as secular education is needed to maintain the rules and order of the world, so is religious education needed to safeguard our religion and for all the affairs of the world to be as per the pleasure of Allah. In order for all classes of people in the Muslim society to be able to live according to the religion and to avoid the forbidden and live a lawful life, it is essential to have a community that is well-versed in the Qur'an and Sunnah. The Holy Quran says, "Why does not a group from every community go forth, so that they may gain religious understanding and warn their people when they return to them. Perhaps they will become pious." (Surah At-Tawbah, Verse No. 122) To open up diverse opportunities for the pursuit of knowledge, IOM offers numerous short courses in addition to the Alim course.

IOM History

It was in the year 2018 —surely you remember the story began with two travelers from different locations. Yes. One of them was Mufti Jubayer Ahmad, and the other was Engineer Khandaker Marsus. Mufti Jubayer Ahmad is a renowned Islamic scholar, a researcher in comparative religion, and a prominent da’ee (caller to Islam). Through his impactful da’wah work, he has guided many non-Muslims to the light of Islam. Every word from his tongue brings peace to hearts and revives the love for Deen among the Ummah. On the other hand, Engineer Khandaker Marsus is a highly educated and talented individual with post-graduate qualifications in IT Engineering and Business Management. His mind is constantly occupied with ideas, initiatives, and efforts aimed at benefiting the Ummah with wisdom. He persistently reflects on how to bring about a revolution in Deen using his worldly knowledge and intelligence. Ma Sha Allah. Words fall short when describing either of them. Both remain deeply engaged in spreading concern for the Deen among the new generation. May their dedication for the sake of Deen reach the Arsh of Allah, Ameen.

It is through the joint efforts of these two righteous souls that the now-popular platform Islamic Online Madrasah – IOM was established. Though their academic backgrounds are different, their intentions and the desires buried in their hearts were identical: to selflessly spread the message of Deen among the Ummah. Perhaps it was by divine wisdom that their paths were kept distinct so that their union could become more fruitful and blessed. With this goal, Islamic Online Madrasah (IOM) was founded – an online educational platform designed to deliver the teachings of the Qur’an to people of all ages, professions, and backgrounds, regardless of madhhab or manhaj, so that the message of guidance may transform into actionable da’wah. IOM is primarily a da’wah platform, which holds equal respect for all schools of thought. It does not aim to promote any one particular group or sect.

IOM was formally inaugurated on the 1st of Muharram 1440 (11th September 2018) at Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, although the website itself was launched earlier, on 17th October 2017. The syllabus for the Alim course was also planned while sitting inside Masjid an-Nabawi. Alhamdulillah! It is a special mercy from Allah that IOM’s journey began at the holiest place, during the holiest time. SubhanAllah!

Our first batch of students began in 2018, with 132 students enrolling in that initial intake! Among them were around 16–17 MBBS doctors, about 22 engineers, and students from various countries—Alhamdulillah! From the beginning till now, we have continued to receive an overwhelming response from brothers and sisters. Currently, five batches are running – Alhamdulillah. With the countless blessings of Allah, Islamic Online Madrasah – IOM is steadily progressing toward the light—in its own rhythm, in its own unique way. At the end, all praise is for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, Who has granted us such an immense opportunity to pursue sacred knowledge, and made IOM a place of love and connection for every righteous soul seeking the Deen. For the souls wandering like thirsty birds in search of authentic Islamic knowledge—souls who avoid division and seek a Haqq-centered platform—IOM has become an ocean of peace. Today, IOM is a beloved name among students of Islamic knowledge. May Allah make this academy grow ever larger and more impactful. May He grant the best rewards to everyone involved in this noble endeavor, open the doors of sadaqah jariyah for them, and accept them all in His path. Ameen.

Q&A

IOM কি কোন দল বা গ্রুপের প্রতিষ্ঠান?

No, it is a completely non-political institution. It does not belong to any particular party or group. But the teachers who will take the classes due to the need of the subject may be Qawmi scholars or Salafi scholars or scholars from various universities. The subjects of the classes will be taught following the Quran and Hadith, InshaAllah.

IOM থেকে কি আমি দাওরায় হাদিস পরীক্ষা দিতে পারব?

IOM’s Alim Preparatory Course does not follow the exact syllabus of traditional Qawmi madrasas. Rather, it is designed to cover everything necessary for brothers and sisters from a general (non-madrasa) background within a 3-year program. After completing the IOM syllabus, in shaa Allah, you will be eligible to enroll in the Quduri level of a Qawmi madrasa. According to the Qawmi madrasa system, after that, you will need to complete four more years, each with its own curriculum: Quduri Hidayah Mishkat Dawra-e-Hadith

That means, after finishing the 3-year Alim Preparatory Course, if you continue your studies for another 4 years in an offline Qawmi madrasa, you will, in shaa Allah, be eligible to sit for the Dawra-e-Hadith exam. You may enroll in one of our partnered madrasas for this continuation, or if you prefer to join another madrasa, you can do so by taking a recommendation letter from IOM. In shaa Allah, IOM will assist you in every possible way to support your further studies.

মেয়েদের কি নিকাব পড়ে ক্লাশ করতে হবে? ছেলেমেয়ে কি একত্রে ক্লাস করবে?

No, wearing a niqab is not required for attending classes. This is because no student’s video will be visible to the teacher or other students. Only the teacher’s video, lecture, or slides will be visible to everyone. In Tajweed classes, to help with correct pronunciation, sisters will be placed in separate groups led by female Muqarrirahs (instructors), so only women will hear the voices of other women. Additionally, all students will join classes using their roll number or student ID—not their names—so it won’t be possible to specifically identify who is male or female.
